Manolo Blahnik Shoes made Carrie Bradshaw, (Sex in The City) seem like all would be ok as long she had her beloved Manolos.

Talk about a lovely shoes...ahhhh! I honestly wanted every pair of shoes Carrie wore. I applaud the stylist on the show.

What make Manolo's so Special?
Two things:
Mr. Blahnik designs and his ability to understand a woman's love affair with shoes.

Born in the Canary Islands on a banana plantation Manolo became interested in women's fashion from observing his mother's fashion magazines. He attended the University of Geneva and became a writer for Vogue Italia. He went into the direction of artist and photographer.

1971 Manolo arrived in New York City to meet with then Vogue editor Diane Vreeland. Vreeland loved his shoes sketches better than anything else and persuaded him to become a shoe designer.

This was the 1970's when platforms were the taking over the fashion world. Manolo decided that platforms were not the way to go. He concentrated on stilettos.

1972 Ossie Clark invited Manolo to design the shoes for his runway show and Manolo Blahnik Shoes were debut.

By 1973 Blahnik had purchased Zapata Fashion Boutique and opened his shoe boutique. Fame was a steady on-going process.

Blahnik learn how to create shoes by visiting shoe factories where he talked to operators, pattern cutters and technicians. He believe in order to design he needed to understand how it came about.


He caught serious attention in 90's when his name was mentioned in the British Comedy, Absolutely Fabulous.

By the late 1990's Sex in the City was the hot ticket and Carrie Bradshaw stated her obession for Manolo Blahnik Shoes.

Once we saw the ladies of S.I.T.C wearing Manolo's each week. We all wanted to wear their shoes. The ladies help make Manolo's a household name.

Carrie talked about his shoes constantly. One of may favorite episodes of Sex in the City is when Carrie finds a pair of the Manolo Mary Jane's which were lead to be a myth.

The excitement she displays over a pair of shoes is amusing and hit close to home for a lot of us.

Known more commonly as Manolo's these shoes are what defines a true artist. Each pair of Manolo Blahnik shoes are designed by Mr. Blahnik. He does not use any assistants or apprentices when it comes to development.

2003 Manolo Blahnik became the first shoe designer whose work was exhibited at the Design Museum in London.

2006 Manolo develops the "heel-less shoe" which is balance on an s-spring. (think Lady Gaga shoes).
